Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on November 20. The royal couple got married in 1947 at Westminster Abbey. Since then Prince Philip, 95, has always supported the 90-year-old Queen, the longest-reigning monarch alive, throughout her journey.
Although the couple has rarely been seen discussing their relationship with the press, in an interview in 2012, the Queen said: "Prince Philip is, I believe, well known for declining compliments of any kind. But throughout [my reign] he has been a constant strength and guide."
The royal story began in 1939 when The Queen, then 13-year-old Princess Elizabeth, and Prince Philip, then 18-year-old naval Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, first met each other. Their bond was quite strong right from the beginning and their royal match soon witnessed a grand wedding. And, the rest is history!
IBT Singapore takes this opportunity to wish Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness Prince Philip a very happy sixty-ninth wedding anniversary. Long live the couple!
