Overview

Bangladesh host England in the final Test of the two-match series from 28 October.

The hosts came close to winning their first ever Test match against the vistors in the first Test at Chittagong only to fall short of 22 runs in chase of 286. Despite the middle order contributing and Sabbir Rahman's spirited effort with the tail, Mushfiqur Rahim's men finished as the second best team.

Bangladesh, who have been on the rise in the limited-overs cricket, showed a lot of character in Chittagong. In Dhaka, it will all come down to how they interpreted their heartbreaking loss.

There are positive signs emerging from the hosts' camp already as opener Tamim Iqbal has reportedly asked the team not be satisfied with their performance in Chittagong but push harder in Dhaka to produce a better result.

For the team to do that, it needs better contributions from the middle order. Despite getting starts, the Bangladesh batsmen failed to produce a big innings in the first Test, which made the difference in the end.

If their batsmen buckle up, the hosts will be in a better position as Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan are likely to trouble England on an already dry wicket in Mirpur.

On the other hand, Alastair Cook's men will be hoping to give no chances to their opposition this time around. The skipper, who himself failed with the bat in both the innings of in Chittagong, will want to get going to ease the pressure off the middle order. 24-year-old left-arm spinner Zafar Ansari is in line to make his Test debut on Friday.

While Bangladesh are eyeing history, England will be hoping for a dominant result in their last attempt at getting the squad in shape for a bigger test that awaits them in India next month.
