Roger Federer lost another match to his nemesis Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open on Thursday, failing yet again to revive his legacy.

With another unraveling of the great tennis maestro on display, the Serbian won the match 6-1, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to book another final at the Australian Open, where he has lost none.

When the 'final before the final' got underway with two of the game's greatest players facing off each other, expectations of Swiss ace Roger Federer roaring back to his past glory were soon dashed.

Novak Djokovic, who is currently the man to beat in world tennis, got off to an impressive start defending his serve and then breaking Federer in the next.

Then on he battered Federer with clinically precise shots, monstrous serves and ferocious forehands to take the first set 6-1.

The second set started with Federer still struggling to preserve his legacy and clamber back into the game, but there was little change in fortunes. Djokovic won the second set 6-2, denying Federer a comeback even as the crowd egged him on desperately.

A fumbling, misfiring Federer took the back seat for a change in the third set and after some display of vintage Federer the Swiss maestro won the third set 6-3, salvaging some pride and forcing his way into a lost match.

However, the Serbian world number one had the last laugh in the grudge match, winning the fourth set 6-4 to shatter Federer's dream of kissing a grand slam title since 2012.
