Overview
Arsenal suffered a crushing 5-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie at the Allianz Arena in mid February. Arjen Robben opened the scoring and that was cancelled by Alexis Sanchez in the first half.
Laurent Koscielny picked up an injury early in the second half and following the withdrawal of the France international, the Gunners lost composure and conceded four goals in the second half. David Ospina made several good saves and the South American made sure the scoreline would not have been even more worse.
Arsene Wenger and his side have an impossible task to overcome a four goal deficit in the second leg. The north London club are not the favourites to progress to the next round and that could only add to their misery, following their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League.
Alexis Sanchez was dropped to the bench against Jurgen Klopp's side and it should be seen whether the Chilean international will start for Arsenal in the crucial Champions League tie against Bayern on Tuesday.
