Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims neutral fans are backing Leicester City to win the Premier League title in the 2015-16 season.

Claudio Ranieri's side extended their lead at the top of the table after registering a comfortable 3-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad. The last win saw them sit them on top of the table 53 points, five points ahead of second place Tottenham Hotspur.

Leicester have not invested heavily in the last summer transfer window, as Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have been the two star players for them this term. The Gunners host the Foxes in the weekend league tie on Sunday. Ahead of the showdown between the two clubs, Wenger has heaped praise on the table toppers for their rise in the Premier League.

"It is very romantic and I understand the whole country [being behind them]. That is human. I think as well that [the story] is good for football, and it goes against the usual practice in our game, which is spend and buy big stars," Wenger said, as quoted in Arsenal's official website.

"It is important to know that with quality work, quality scouting and quality management you can have great results.

"Leicester today are in a strong position and they have certainly silenced all the doubters since the start of the season because at Christmas people were saying they would not be there and now we are at Easter and they are still there.

"In the last week they showed they have solid potential to win the league, with two positive results against Liverpool and Manchester City away. Everybody now thinks they are on the same level as everybody else to win it and they have a mathematical advantage of five points," Arsenal manager concluded.
