Arsenal have allowed forward Serge Gnabry to leave the Emirates and join Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old joined the Gunners from VfB Stuttgart in 2011 and went on to make 18 first team appearances for the north London club. The Premier League giants have not disclosed the fee involved in the transfer.
However, the Daily Mail claims Arsenal have received £5.4m from the German outfit for Gnabry's signature.
A statement on Arsenal's official website read, " Serge Gnabry has joined Werder Bremen in a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee."
"The 21-year-old forward has just returned from the Rio Olympics with a silver medal, where he was also joint-top scorer with six goals for Germany during the tournament.
"After an impressive 2013/14 campaign, where Serge made 14 first-team appearances and netted his first goal for the club in a 2-1 victory at Swansea City, he went on loan to West Bromwich Albion for part of the 2015/16 season."
Gnabry went on to reveal that his compatriots Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil convinced him to join Werder Bremen in the summer transfer window.
"I've come to Bremen to get playing time, to develop further and to help the team. Per (Mertesacker) and Mesut (Ozil) have only said positive things about the club," Gnabry said.
"I had very good talks with the management and that has lead me here to Werder and the Bundesliga.
"The Olympics were a personal highlight for me and I'd like to carry on my development here at Werder. I'm confident we'll have a successful season and push for the top half of the table."
