Alliance Mineral Assets, an explorer and excavator of minerals, on Tuesday appointed Shaun Menezes as the chief financial officer, effective immediately.

Menezes, 41, will takeover Paul Andrew Robson, who resigned as CFO last year citing "personal reasons."

The appointment of Menezes comes at a crucial time for Alliance Mineral.

Perth, Western Australia-based Alliance is struggling to raise additional funds after auditors flagged uncertainty about the mining firm's ability to operate as a going concern.

The auditor Ernst & Young have flagged a pre-tax loss of A$4.80 million (S$5,119,580) for fiscal 2017, and A$4.08 million for fiscal 2016.

Menezes will be responsible for overseeing the overall financial, accounting, taxation, corporate finance, and treasury matters as well as ensuring compliance with the company's financial reporsting requirements.

He has worked in the capacity of chief financial officer for Mount Magnet South Ltd from 2014 to 2016. Menezes was also with Ernst & Young Australia between 1999 and 2011 and was an executive director of Ernst & Young Australia before his departure in 2011.

Shares in Alliance Mineral Assets ended down 2.9 percent at S$0.34 on the Singapore Exchange on Tuesday.
