Singapore held Philippines to a goalless draw in their tournament opener Reuters

AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 kickstarted in Philippines on 19 November and will see eight teams across two groups - Group A and Group B - battling for the semi-final spots.

A total of 12 matches will be played in the group stages, which will end on 26 November. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the last-four stages.

In the case of tied points at the end of the group stages, goal difference comes into play. If the difference is also same, then the team which has scored the most number of goals will progress to the knockout stage.

If a team cannot be singled out with the above mentioned criteria, the progress to the next stage will be determined by the result of the direct match between the teams that have tied.
