Top seed Andy Murray takes on 15th seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the Men's singles third round of 2017 Monte Carlo Masters on Thursday.

The world number one looked rusty on his return from wrist injury as he struggled to hit serves against Gilles Muller on Wednesday. Murray was down 2-0 in the first set after he had hit quite a few double faults and was looking to go down 3-0 but buckled up and clinched the first set. He faced similar issues in the second set but held his composure to take the match 7-5, 7-5.

On the other hand, Ramos-Vinolas heads into the match on the back of a straight sets win over Carlos Berlocq in his R32 match yesterday.

Murray will look to improve his game when he takes on Ramos-Vinolas later today as another patchy display might see him bow out of the ongoing tournament. A good start to the clay season is essential for the Brit if he has to retain his numero uno position, especially after an ordinary display on hard courts earlier this season.

Ramos-Vinolas, on the other hand, will be eyeing to stun the top seed when he takes the court later today. Though he has not played Murray in the past, the 24-year-old had started the season on clay, reaching the final stages in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro and also finished as runner-up in Sao Paulo.

Despite facing early exits at Indian Wells and Miami, the Spaniard will be confident after his good run on clay, but he has to be at his best despite playing against a rusty Murray to stand a chance of progressing further in the tournament.
