Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has revealed that he has no plans of quitting the Premier League outfit at the end of the season in order to return to Italy.
The versatile full-back moved to Old Trafford from Torino last summer and was off to an impressive start to his life in England. However, poor form coupled with injuries saw him lose his place in the starting lineup and that had raised concerns over his future.
Darmian has rubbished those speculations as the former Serie A defender has committed his future to his current employers.
"I love the Premier League, and I want to stay here for a long time," the Manchester Evening News quoted Darmian as saying.
"There is a lot of difference because this is a big club, and from Serie A there are a lot of differences. The Premier League is more physical and less tactical, this is the most important difference, but I think it is the best championship in the world, so I love it."
Louis van Gaal's side are fifth in the Premier League table with 53 points after 31 matches, trailing fourth place Manchester City by a point. The Red Devils make a trip to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and Darmian claims it is important for United to finish in top four this season.
"I think Manchester United is the biggest club in the world so there is a lot of pressure. They expect that we win all the games," the Italian international explained, as quoted by ESPN FC.
"Now we want to be in the top four at the end of the season. We have a big chance to win the FA Cup, so we want to improve and work, and if possible win a trophy.
"Yes of course [top four is minimum requirement]. We want to be in the top four at the end of the season and the club works for this. If we work hard we have a big chance. We won the last two games so we want to continue on this way."
