Waqar Younis has stepped down from his post as Pakistan's head coach and the same has been confirmed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

On Monday, PCB released a job description on their official website, via their Twitter account as they are on the lookout for a new head coach.

Pakistan's dismal performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 saw them get eliminated from the group stages of the tournament, which saw them suffer defeat at the hands of India, New Zealand and Australia.

Younis' departure comes a day after Shahid Afridi stepped down as Pakistan's T20 captain. PCB have confirmed the news in a statement released through their official website.

It read, "Waqar Younis has publically resigned from his position and the PCB will now initiate the process of inducting a new Coach for Pakistan team."

On Afridi, the statement read, "Shahid Afridi was appointed T20 Captain up till ICC WT20 2016. With the event now concluded and as per the recommendations of the Special Committee, the PCB will shortly appoint a new T20 Captain in place of Shahid Afridi."

Younis had three months left on his contract and has confirmed his resignation from his post as the national team's coach.

"It's time to go. With disappointment and pain I would like to inform that I decide to resign as the Pakistan coach," the former Pakistan bowler said, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.

"In last 19 months of my job I was completely honest and didn't leave any stone unturned to help the team achieve the best but unfortunately we couldn't get the results."

"It was slightly unfair by the board the way the whole case had been handled as my report was leaked and none of the board officials tried to talk about all this. But in all this, I do not want all of you, including ex-cricketers, to forget my services to Pakistan cricket."

Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja have been handed the responsibility of finding a replacement for Younis as Pakistan's head coach. The requirement for the post has been mentioned below:
