A 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Bali, Indonesia, on Wednesday morning, the United States Geological Survey said.
The USGS said the quake struck at about 2 km northeast of Banjar Pasekan, with a depth of 118.4km at 7.10am. According to the authorities, there was no threat of tsunami and no immediate damages or injuries were reported.
The Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency of Indonesia rated the earthquake at 6.4 magnitude. It said that the epicentre of the quake was about 23 km from the city capital of Denpasar.
The quake also created a stir on the social media. Several Twitter users in Bali shared their experiences of the quake. Some of them said they felt their bed shaking when the quake hit.

Indonesia is positioned on the highly seismically active zone "Pacific Ring of Fire", which is known for collision of tectonic plates, and hence it experiences frequent earthquakes.
