A 43-year-old man was arrested by Singapore police for injuring his 74-year-old father with a dangerous weapon in Tampines on Wednesday night. The victim was taken to Changi General Hospital with head injuries. However, the hospital was on standby to receive him, which is typical for severe injuries.
According to reports, the incident took place at around 11.40 pm at Block 164, Tampines Street 12. Reports said the dispute was over money issues and the man had used a cleaver to hurt the victim. The police have already seized the weapon.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said that it had received a call for ambulance assistance at 12.10 am on Aug 31. An ambulance was immediately dispatched to the scene. But, the police said that they received a request for assistance at 11.38 pm on Wednesday.
"A 43-year-old man was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and police investigations are ongoing," the police spokesman told The Straits Times.
The victim's wife told the Chinese evening daily that 74-year-old's condition had stabilised as of Friday night.
In a report on Saturday, Lianhe Wanbao quoted the neighbours as saying that they heard screaming sounds during the struggle.
A video clip that was posted on Stomp showed a man lying on the pavement while another man was seen attending him. The video also showed the police officers crouched down on the grass nearby.
