Stanislas Wawrinka believes he will have no added pressure of being the top seed in the first half of the Men's singles draw after the exits of Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray at the ongoing Australian Open.

The world number four takes on 12th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the first quarter-final clash on Tuesday at the Rod Laver Arena. Wawrinka heads into the last-eight match after edging past Andreas Seppi in straight sets. However, the match extended to almost three hours and the 2015 winner had to fight it out in tie-breakers in all the three sets.
Wawrinka, who faced a semi-final exit in Brisbane earlier this month, has had a tiresome journey into the quarter-final as he played a marathon five-setter against unseeded Slovakian player Martin Klizan in the first round after which he was tested again in the third round by Viktor Troicki. However, the early exits of higher-ranked Murray and Djokovic has given him a good opportunity to take home his second Australian Open title.
The Swiss star holds a 4-3 head-to-head record against Tsonga but they have shared honours with one win each in hard courts. The former finalist dispatched Britain's Dan Evans in a closely-fought fourth-round contest on Sunday.
Tsonga had recovered well from an injury last year to reach the quarter-final of the US Open. With a good first serve count in the ongoing tournament, the 31-year-old Frenchman, who is also known for his good returns, has it in him to test the third seed.
