Google said on Thursday that users will be able to book and pay for a Uber ride with the latest update of Google Maps. They will not have to install the Uber app on their devices.
In a blog post, the technology giant said it is "trying out" the integration of Uber's services with its Maps app. It will allow its users to sign into their Uber accounts and book rides directly from Google Maps.
Google wrote in the post that the users can also access all the necessary information about the destination such as menus and opening hours through Google Maps.
The new feature is an extension of Google Maps' ride services mode that was started in 2016.The service allows the users to see a list of ride-hailing service providers and their estimated fares. At present, Uber and Grab are the two service providers which are listed in Singapore.
