At least 11 children were wounded by a man carrying blades at their kindergarten in China's southern region of Guangxi on Wednesday, the state television reported. This is the latest mass knifing incident in the country that has witnessed a series of knife and axe attacks in recent years.
China Central Television (CCTV) posted on its official microblog that a man had climbed the wall of the kindergarten in the city of Pingxiang and attacked the students. The report said all the injured children were sent to the hospital but their injuries were not life-threatening.
CCTV reported that the police have detained the suspect and the incident was being investigated. However, the full name of the suspect was not revealed.
China does not report frequent violent crimes compared with many other countries. But in recent years, there have been a number of knife attacks, mainly targeting children.
