Overview

Brisbane Heat ended 2016 on a high after winning all the three matches they have played in the season so far. Brendon McCullum's side have rallied so far in the tournament due to their batting strength.

Chris Lynn, with 198 runs from three matches, is the second highest-scorer of the ongoing season and the destructive batsman has got out only once so far. The 26-year-old struck an unbeaten 84 from just 50 balls in their last outing on 30 December as Heat crushed Hobart Hurricanes by chasing down a 174-run target with 22 balls to spare.

Lynn has found support from skipper McCullum, who has amassed 118 runs from three games. The former New Zealand opener has been striking at the rate of 196.66, which has provided the Heat a big boost at the top of the order.

McCullum's team are looking set to clinch another win on Tuesday as they will be rallied by good home support. A win on Tuesday will help them leapfrog table-toppers Perth Scorchers. Their bowlers have not been tested much yet but Mark Steketee has already made an early impact with six wickets at 6.58.

On the other hand, Sydney Sixers have been quietly inconsistent with two wins and as many losses from four games in the tournament so far. They opened their campaign by beating defending champions Sydney Thunder by nine wickets but slipped to a huge, 60-run defeat to Hobart Hurricanes.

After losing to Adelaide Strikers by another big margin on 31 December, Sixers should aim for consistency if they are make to the knockout stages. Sam Billings has been the only consistent batsman for the Sixers while skipper Moises Henriques has chipped with a few crucial knocks.

Sean Abbott, who is leading the wicket-takers chart with nine scalps so far, will have to come up another good show if Sixers are to stand a chance against the rampant Heat batting unit.
