Overview

Dhaka Dynamites and Rajshahi Kings go head-to-head in the final of the 2016/17 Bangladesh Premier League in Mirpur on 9 December.

Dhaka, who finished on top of the table at the end of the group stages, made the most of the opportunity in the Qualifier 1 against Khulna Titans. Shakib Al Hasan-led team though were in a spot of bother at 89/6 with Junaid Khan making inroads into the hosts' top-order.

However, Dhaka's dependable West Indies all-rounders Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell, who have a wealth of Twenty20 experience, delivered for them on the crucial day with 49-run stand, with the latter top-scoring with a 25-ball 46.

The two combined well again with the ball and picked up six wickets between them to bundle out Khulna for 86. Dhaka's strength lies in their all-rounders and with the likes of Shakib, Bravo, Russell and Mosaddek in their line-up, they are well placed to clinch glory on Friday.

On the other hand, Rajshahi made it to the final after having narrowly escaped a threat from Chittagong Vikings in the first on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 143, Darren Sammy's men looked like they were heading home at 57/6. However, the skipper, as always, rose to the occasion and played a blinder (27-ball 55), which included seven boundaries and two sixes to gift his team another shot at the final.

On Wednesday though, it was a little easier for Rajshahi, who comfortably beat Khulna by seven wickets. Rajshahi also have quality all-rounders - James Franklin, Afif Hossain and Samit Patel, who haunted Dhaka when the two teams met earlier in the team. In-form pacer Kesrick Williams will also be key to their chances.

It will all come down to who handles the pressure better on the big night. We all know what Sammy can come up with in such situations. Watch out, Shakib and Co.
