Atletico de Kolkata take on Kerala Blasters in their penultimate group clash of Indian Super League 2016 on 29 November. Tuesday's encounter will be a crucial fixture for both the teams as a win would take either of them close to the semi-final berth of the ongoing season. Both teams have 18 points from 12 matches but Kolkata are placed third, a spot above Kerala, as they have a better goal difference (15-11).
Kerala would be eyeing a win as they will face fifth-placed NorthEast United, who are also very much in contention for a spot in the last-four stages, in their final fixture on 4 December at home.
Steve Coppell's side head into Tuesday's match following a 2-1 win over FC Pune City in their last matchday on Friday. It was an important win as well for the South Indian giants as they had suffered a 5-0 humiliation against table toppers Mumbai City FC on 19 November.
Striker CK Vineeth, who has scored three goals in just four matches after joinning the league midway, will be key to the visitors' chances, who have not had a lot of success on the road.
On the other hand, Kolkata would also want to collect maximum points from tonight's fixture at home as they will be facing semi-final spot contenders Pune, against whom they lost their earlier fixture of the season, in their final group clash on 2 December.
Jose Molina's unit have been unbeaten in their last four games but have managed to collect three full points on only one occasion. They have not made the most of their home conditions so far in this season as they have managed to win only one of their four games.
After having won their reverse fixture, Kolkata will be geared up to take on Kerala in front of their fans, who are expected to come in large numbers for the high-octane match.
