It was Juan Mata's second half goal that was the difference between the two sides as Pep Guardiola's City were eliminated from one of the four competitions this season.
The clash also saw that City fail to register a single shot on target, something that could please Jose Mourinho. This win came after the Red Devils' drubbing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the league tie at Stamford Bridge.
