Switzerland's Gianni Infantino has been elected as the president of world football's governing body Fifa.
The Uefa secretary general will succeed fellow Swiss Sepp Blatter, looking to lead the football governing body out of years-long scandals.
"We will restore the image of FIFA and the respect of FIFA, and everyone in the world will be proud of us," the 45-year-old said after the election.
"I feel a lot of emotion and have not realised yet what has happened today," he said, Reuters reported.
Infantino got 115 out of the total 207 votes, while main rival Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa came in at the second spot. He could not score a decisive victory in the first round though he got three votes more than Salman.
"I will work tirelessly to bring football back to Fifa and Fifa back to football. This is what we want to do," he said.
