China issued a "yellow alert" for Typhoon Nida, which is expected to hit southern province of Guangdong on Tuesday, the stateowned Xinhua news agency reported.
The National Meteorological Center (NMC) warned of strong winds and heavy rain by issuing the -most severe alert on a four-colour scale. Nida was detected 380 km off the coast of Manila, the Philippines, at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Guangdong, Fujian and Hainan provinces and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region are on high alert.
According to NMC, Nida is expected to pick up speed with winds forecasted to reach 38-45 meters per second by the time it makes landfall.

Nida will be the fourth typhoon to hit China this year. Since June, almost 800 people have been killed due to natural disasters.
