Singaporean activist and blogger Han Hui Hui was fined $3,100 on Monday for co-organising a protest rally without approval at Hong Lim Park on September 27, 2014, which disrupted an ongoing charity carnival at the park.
Five other bloggers, including blogger Roy Ngerng Yi Ling, were accused of disrupting the YMCA Proms @ The Park charity event for children with special needs along with Han.
The 24-year-old blogger and two of her co-accused, Low Wai Choo, 56, and Koh Yew Beng, 61, were found guilty of causing public nuisance.
Han was fined $600 for being a public nuisance and $2,500 for arranging a demonstration without approval, while the other two were fined $450 each.
Han said she would be appealing against her conviction and sentence. "We have our notice of appeal right now," she told AFP.
Blogger Ngerng, 33 and Chua Siew Leng, 43, were also charged over the protest. But both of them pleaded guilty and were fined $1,900 and $300, respectively, in October last year. Goh Aik Huat, 42, another blogger, was given a conditional warning.
When the Minister of State Teo Ser Luck arrived during the rally, the bloggers became "more emotive" and they started shouting loudly, chanting slogans and beating drums. They marched four times around the area of the YMCA event holding placards, flags, and blowed whistles loudly, the court heard.
