The 26-year-old Goffin defeated the Swiss great Federer in the semi-final face-off. Although the 36-year-old Federer took the opening set by 6-2, Goffin fought back and sealed the match by 6-3, 6-4. It was Goffin's first victory of his career against the 2017 Australian Open and Wimbledon winner Federer.
On the other hand, the 26-year-old Dimitrov disappointed the 2017 Paris Masters winner Sock in the second singles semi-final match. The world No. 8 Sock took the first set by 6-4 but the world No. 6 Dimitrov showed his dominance in remaining two sets and beat Sock by 6-0, 6-3.
Both the finalists, David Goffin and Grigor Dimitrov will be playing their last match of 2017 Nitto ATP Finals in London for the ultimate glory on 19 November, Sunday.
However, according to head-to-head stats, Dimitrov has a 4-1 lead against Goffin. Both of them have played earlier in this tournament, where Dimitrov took the victory over Goffin by 6-0, 6-2 in a round-robin match.
There will be another battle between two men's doubles pairs at the centre court in London for the 2017 Nitto ATP Finals doubles title.
The Australian John Peers and his Finnish partner Henri Kontinen will be serving for the final time in ATP Finals against Polish ace Łukasz Kubot and Brazilian Marcelo Melo on Sunday.
Both the pairs have played their semi-final match on 18 November, where they defeated world-class tennis aces. While Peers and Kontinen defeated Britain's Jamie Murray and his Brazilian partner Bruno Soares by 7-6, 6-2, Kubot and Melo beat American tennis player Ryan Harrison and New Zealand's Michael Venus by 6-1, 6-4.
