5.2 magnitude earthquake hits southwest of Jayapura, Indonesia

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck off southwest of Jayapura, Indonesia, on Wednesday, the meteorological department said.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 378 km off Irian Jaya, southwest of Jayapura, and 2,401 km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.

However, there were no immediate reports of damage or injury. The Meterological department said the earthquake did not trigger a tsunami alert.
