Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, has said EgyptAir crash appears to be "yet another terrorist attack", pointing that the flight took off from Paris.
The Cairo-bound Airbus A320 was flying at 11,000m when it disappeared from the radar about 130 nautical miles off the Greek island of Karpathos.
Trump said on Twitter the crash looked like another terror attack. "When will we get tough, smart and vigilant? " he asked.
Trump's tweet was posted at 1027 GMT, soon after experts suggested the possibility of terrorist attack.
Trump has routinely called for tougher measures to crack down on "radical Islamic terrorism." He has taken France as an example of European governments' apparent failure to contain the jihadist threat.
Trump said that the city was "under tremendous siege" and had lawless, "radicalized" neighborhoods following the destructive terror attacks in Paris last November.
On December 8 Trump had said, "I have people that have friends living in Paris. They want to leave, they're petrified," according to the AFP.
