Malaysia's Veterinary Services Department has confirmed that no human deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) trace was found in a lamb found with human-like features in Kota Tinggi, Johor.
The director-general of Veterinary Services Department, Kamarudin Md Isa, has said that the goat had died in the womb and its strange features were caused because of a genetic abnormality.
In a press conference on Friday, Kamarudin said: "It is a fetal anomaly. There is no issue that the kid was born through unnatural sexual intercourse. Such perception is wrong," reports The Star.
On April 24, a Felda Sungai Mas settler found that one of his goats had given birth to a kid that had the features of a human.
Kamaruddin had called a press conference requesting the public to stop speculating and spreading inaccurate information over the incident. He said the DNA test was done at the Johor Baru Veterinary Laboratory last month. He also said that the fetal anomaly was a common occurrence among animals but the percentage was very small.
He pointed out that infections and a lack of nutrients were the key factors contributing to such a disorder.
