Any tipster who can provide the Philippine National Police (PNP) with information that will lead to the arrest of cops involved in the drug trade of the late mayor Reynaldo Parajinog will be rewarded USD 40 thousand.

President Rodrigo Duterte made this announcement during the 116th Police Service anniversary held at Camp Crame this week.

A suspected drug lord in the Southern Philippines, Parajinog, was the mayor of Ozamis City. Parajinog and 16 others were killed during a raid on 30 July 2017. Duterte told the policemen to "do your duty and I will protect you. Do not abuse, do not commit crime."

Duterte also said that he is scheduled to visit Ozamis, a drug-infested city to warn policemen involved in drugs for the last time. The 72-year-old leader also said that he will bring justice to the death of civilians, who were murdered by the Parojinog drug syndicate.

Major Jovie Espenido, the police director in Ozamis said that he is now looking for the police officers involved in the drug trade of the Parajinogs.

Duterte said that he will be running after mayors reportedly involved in drugs because drugs have been destroying the future of the next generation.

However, human rights groups urged the president to stop extra judicial killings in his drug campaign because they believe that it violates human right and there should be another way to control the drug menace.

Police reported that there are at least 4 million drug users and traders in the Philippines, enjoying the protection of influential politicians and high ranking police officers of the country.
