Singtel and CapitaLand Mall Trust have topped the Singapore Governance and Transparency index (SGTI), signalling increased corporate governance among Singapore-listed companies.
Singtel topped the SGTI 2017 for the third consecutive year.
CapitaLand Mall Trust, meanwhile, leads in the new real estate investment trusts (REIT) and business trust category. CapitaLand Commercial Trust was second, with Keppel REIT in third.
Standards of corporate governance in Singapore have continued to grow, with average ratings hitting an all-time high in 2017, the release said.
The results of the annual index, which ranked more than 600 SGX-listed companies, were released on Tuesday by CPA Australia, NUS Business School's Centre for Governance, Institutions and Organisations, and the Singapore Institute of Directors.
The SGTI is the benchmark for corporate governance assessments among SGX-listed companies.
Companies were assessed on board responsibilities, rights of shareholders, accountability and audit, disclosure and conduct as well as engagement of shareholders.
