Shares of China Star Food rose as much as 18 percent to S$0.123 on Tuesday.

The Catalist-listed company, which makes snacks in China, was among the top gainers on the Singapore Exchange. About 19.6 million shares have changed hands on the counter.

In a reply to the exchange query on the counter's trading activity, China Star Food said it wasn't aware of any other possible explanation for the share price movements.
