A 79-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman were found dead in a Bedok Reservoir flat on Wednesday in Singapore. The authorities have classified this case as murder.
The police said in a press release that they were informed about the incident at about 3.40 pm. According to reports, when the police arrived at the flat at Block 717 Bedok Reservoir Road the man and woman were found motionless.
Channel NewsAsia reported that the two deceased were husband and wife. The police said both the victims were pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene at about 4 pm.
The police and forensics investigators were seen entering a corner unit on the second floor. About five to six people, who were believed to be family members of the victims, were spotted at the stairwell leading up to the flat.
The authorities cordoned off all the entrances to the second floor of the block. Several police vehicles were spotted at the scene.
The police were seen rummaging through the contents of a rubbish chute at the foot of the block on Wednesday night. The officers took three knives away in a plastic bag. As the police were removing the bodies from the flat after 11 pm, a bit of wailing was heard.
The police said the investigations are going on. The authorities have urged people with any leads to call the police hotline at 1800-255-0000, or to submit the information online. The police added that all information will be kept strictly confidential.
