A member of the Johor Royal family in Malaysia was killed in an accident while her daughter sustained minor injuries. According to reports, the accident took place when the car they were in skidded and crashed at the Inner Ring Road exit near the Danga City Mall in Johor Baru on Friday.
Johor police chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the victim has been identified as Tunku Amal Jakiah Tunku Mohd Archibald. The 58-year-old woman is the second cousin to the Sultan of Johor. The authorities said she died at the scene from severe body injuries.
"It is learnt that the driver, namely the deceased's 22-year-old daughter was trying to avoid another vehicle before she lost control of the car and crashed into the road divider," the police chief told Bernama.
"Tunku Amal Jakiah, who was from Taman Nong Chik, had chest injuries and died on the spot," he said in a statement.
He added that the body of Tunku Amal Jakiah was sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for post mortem while her daughter, a businesswoman, was being treated at the same hospital for minor injuries.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
